You may have had a family member who never spoke during his meals.
Oh yes. Food was religion for them. They prayed to the food and the Lord before starting to eat. Small morsels of food. Diligent chewing. Decidedly animated gulps. Small beads of sweat as a plate of delicious food was cleaned up. Finally, a single piece or bowl of any dessert, had with single minded devotion.
Then, that wide smile at the end of the meal.
That member is no longer there at the head of the table at many homes.
Instead, we have people who comment on the healthiness of one kind of food over the other. They point out to the food and keep going with their out of turn comments about health. Then, they suggest. Never have this at night. Never have that after the main meals. This is a strict no-no during summers.
The table and its people are fatigued by these comments. Only good manners prevent them from crying out loud.
Carefully choose and decide what to eat.
While choosing the food, include your and your family or friends’ choices. Encourage the right choosing by others too. Have a pleasant conversation about something that results in the food selection without much ado.
Once decided, bless the food and energise it.
Have a good meal with joy.
While eating ensure no one comments negatively about food or anyone’s diet.
You can always register your comments later too. The providers shall understand.
Your positive energy energizes the food in front of you. Even a doughnut is divine if the excitement and happiness while having it is palpable.
It brings collective happiness.
You can always ask for improvement.
There is always room for improvement and you know that. Don’t you?
